We Have (a) Zucchini!

We harvested our first zucchini this weekend (that's singular) and I made my favorite fried zucchini on Saturday night. Stay tuned for my recipe (called Best Fried Zucchini, how perfect!) and zucchini frying tips later this week.

My harvest basket before:

And my harvest basket after:

It's just one zucchini, but it tasted so good!  I think the first vegetable of each variety is always the tastiest.

Forgive the extra-short post, but Nathan and I had a very busy weekend while Dada worked. On Sunday we celebrated two of our friends' first birthdays at an awesome and fun animal-themed pool party extravaganza.

We watched the animal guy give interactive demonstrations...

We got to hold a tiny baby box turtle in our own [little] hands...

We ate as much food as we possibly could, surrounded by friends, colorful decorations and fun, creative party favors.

We wore party hats...

And sunglasses that no lenses in them by the end of the night...

Experienced fun, new places...

Fell in love with a little house that Mama now feels she has to buy for our backyard, too...

Sang Happy Birthday not once...

Or twice...

...but five times with a warm, loving, closeknit family that made us feel like we belonged.  It was a full, satisfying weekend.

  2. Hello; I'm quite sure that zucchini was the best zucchini in the world. We've had cold waether so far this summer and are still waiting for our tiny, little tomatoes. Hope they'll turn red before the snow falls.

  4. I am always so impressed with anyone who can have a garden. I have as black a thumb as you can get! I bet that zucchini tastes great after all the hard work you put into it. And yes, our playhouse was our greatest investment!! :)

Thanks for sharing your great day with us at Rub Some Dirt On It!
