Inspired by Ginny of small things.
This week I’m knitting Camilla mittens from spillyjane knits. It’s a great pattern, and I’m really enjoying knitting these mittens—and I don’t know who they’re for yet. For once I’m knitting in reverse. Normally, I pick a pattern I like and the perfect gift recipient in the exact same moment. But this time, I’m knitting for knitting’s sake, and in response to a challenge, or rather, a contest on Jane’s blog.
So if I can’t decide on a recipient, I just might make them my first blog giveaway. Is this a good idea? (Feedback welcome!) Loyal readers, stay tuned!
I just finished my Must Have Cardigan earlier this week—read about the flop here. I forgot to mention in my last post about this sweater that it's the same one worn by the Yarn Harlot on the back flap of her book, Things I’ve Learned from Knitting: Whether I Wanted to or Not, which I'm currently reading. What a coincidence!
These books are currently serving as my inspiration, even though my Yarn Along book isn't in the photo. I just liked it. I'm sure we all fall prey to irrelevant blogging fom time to time, especially late at night. So there you have it.
I love, love, love those mittens and I would happily win the pair. ;)
ReplyDeleteWay to get the cardigan finished!

ReplyDeleteI love the colourwork! Would love a chance to win them as I love looking at/wearing, but hate knitting that kind of thing!

Those are super stupendous! My goodness, they look complicated...
ReplyDeleteGreat mitten!
ReplyDeleteThe winter must be getting to people, these are the 3rd set of mittens I have seen today, including my own.
I agree with Jess - the cold is really settling in, isn't it? Mittens are SO warm! I always thought they were for kids, but now I'm a believer in their warmth and usefulness. Great job so far!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work! I love all of your knitting. Seriously.
ReplyDeleteOh, how beautiful! I am still too intimidated by color work to try it! Lovely work!
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone for your feedback on the mittens! Colorwork isn't as hard as it looks, so I hope everyone here will give it a chance!
ReplyDeleteI'm sad to say that the mittens are turning out very small... my swatch lied (what the?) and I'm actually knitting about 2 sts/in smaller than I should be. I know. It was disappointing to stick my hand in this teeny mitten (I thought it had been turning out small, and now I know for sure!) -- it would fit a child, but definitely not an adult. So maybe they won't be the best giveaway. I'll just have to come up with something else...
