This week I’m making some progress on my Cupcake Mittens, but not very much because I started designing my March socks. I call the pattern Birds in Flight because the zig-zag design looks like birds the way we drew them flying in the sky when we were kids. I guess that’s how I’d draw them now, too.
Getting the design to look just right took a few tries and resulted in a few false starts, but now I like the way they’re turning out and have learned a thing or two about lace. Now that this pattern has been charted out, of course my mind is wandering on to my April socks, which I want to feature leaves and buds. We’ll see if I can come up with something interesting.
Even more aggravating is how far away July is (wild-berry-picking time!), because an image of my July socks appeared in my head yesterday. Berry colors and bobbles—I don’t know if anyone has ever tried putting bobbles on socks before, but I think I’m going to give it a go.
I’m still reading Oprah’s unauthorized biography, and it’s pretty interesting. It’s hard to put down when I’m supposed to turn out the light at night.
I am knitting along with Ginny of small things.
What a lovely pattern and georgous color for your March socks! I find it amazing you can already be thinking so far ahead on your socks of the month. I am happy just to have this months sock undercontrol.
