As always, I'm linking up with Ginny on Small Things on Wednesday.
My winter shawl is coming along swimmingly. I still love the pattern, and I hope to start the edging tonight. The edging! Do you believe it? Even I don't believe how quickly this fingering weight shawl is going on size 5 needles. I think I'll always remember that I cast on this project on Christmas afternoon with yarn I "found" in my stocking that morning... hopefully I can say I knitted it in less than a month!
Unless I get derailed by.....
A Sneaky Snake Scarf I'm knitting as a photo sample for Knit Picks. I'm considering selling this one in my Etsy shop, but if anyone out there wants dibs on it, let me know and I'll create a reserved listing for you when it's ready. kelly (at) kocommunications (dot) net
...or maybe a new hat for Nathan will set me back. I thought he'd be able to wear last year's hat, but that noggin of his just keeps on growing, so his new hat made with yarn from the depths of my stash is at the top of the list.
And now I remember why I don't like knitting with black yarn. Even though the whole thing will k2p2 ribbing (which I can do with my eyes closed), I still have to look down each time I stop and start to see where I've left off, and it's such a strain on my eyes. Time to break out the craft light!
I'm still loving The Eighty-dollar Champion: Snowman, the Horse That Inspired a Nation and it's getting better and better. As a writer myself, I either have trouble getting through some authors' work or I get hung up on the craft as I discover and admire the authors' techniques. With this book I find that in between all the admiration -- especially the parts where the author breaks down technical (and correct!) information on horses and horsemanship -- I'm getting lost in the story and it's wonderful.
In case you missed it, yesterday I launched my latest and most favorite pattern yet, Handsome Men's Slipper Socks. Please take a look if the men in your life have feet that need to be kept warm this winter! Or just have feet.

You are moving along very quickly with your shawl and it does look lovely!
ReplyDeleteI am trying very hard to just wrap up what I have on the needle now that then only have two projects going at once as having 4 has just been too stressful :)!
You crack me up, Kelly! That shawl is beautiful - such GORGEOUS yarn! And, oh dear, I bought 3 hanks of black wool for a project for my youngest son...and now I'm worried. I've never knit with black yarn before and, heck, I can lose my spot in a project WITHOUT the help of the yarn, thank you very much. Ha!
ReplyDeleteThe shawl is lovely- and such a gorgeous colour :)
ReplyDeleteAs to the socks- they are very handsome!
You shawl is beautiful - love the colour :) Excellent thing to find in your stocking!
ReplyDeleteMmm those socks looks so snuggly and warm. And your shawl is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHandsome, indeed my man is and yes, he has two feet. I need to check this pattern out - it looks super!
ReplyDeleteAs for loyalty to projects, it's hard to derail me, but I've fallen for it. Two projects on the needles. Ahem... Nothing compared to your interesting list.
Have a great week!
Wow...you have many lovely projects going on! The slipper sock pattern is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThe shawl is very nice - love the middle section of the pattern with all those yo's? You're right about knitting with black, but it's not impossible. I just knit in the daytime!
ReplyDeleteLooking good, Kelly!
ReplyDeleteI had the same problem when I made my brother's hat. You would think a hat could be difficult but I was getting so frustrated.
Your shawl looks nice, and I love the snake scarf. If I could knit socks, I'd be checking that pattern out!
ReplyDeleteThe shawl is particularly lovely. I adore that shade of blue, and it looks all soft and lacey.
ReplyDeleteMy first knitting lesson is scheduled for tomorrow morning! Quite excited...
what great projects..I think my hubby would love those slippers! And that blue yarn....love the color!! Happy knitting!!
ReplyDeleteThe Handsome Man sock-slippers are nice indeed. My hubby loves hand knit socks so I might have to think about getting this pattern. I love it when a shaw goes quickly.....mine is going way too slow right now. Lovely post.
ReplyDeleteOoh, my hubby would love those socks though I doubt I could pull them off. I usually put yarn in my daughters stockings...it would be awesome to find some in mine someday : ) Awesome progress on the stash busting.
ReplyDeleteThe shawl is simply beautiful!! I dislike knitting in black too and always end up at the kitchen table.
ReplyDeleteWow, christmas afternoon? That knit up pretty fast!!
ReplyDeleteYou are such a speedy knitter-I love the edging of the shawl!!
ReplyDeleteAwww! We've got the same Chroma colorway going! I love the grey in it and the transitions are so smooth! It's a lovely shawl!
ReplyDelete"Handsome" is the word--that sock is amazing!
