Yarn Along

With my Zig Zag Market Bag pattern all buttoned up (I launched it yesterday, in case you missed it!) I have much less knitting to show today.  The little green gift I showed last week looks too much like the finished product to show again here, so I took this yarn:

Aren’t the handpainted colors beautiful?

And I cast on this:

It’s the first in a pair of Edwardian Boating Socks (Ravelry link). I chose a pattern that should leave no chance for pooling. Even though I love this palette of muted rainbow colors, I’d pass on seeing them pool up in unflattering ways.

Care to see those colors again?

They completely transfixed me as my husband helped wind it into a ball (he makes a very good swift).  These socks are going to be such a joy to knit (I hope!).

On the reading front, I’m embarrassed to say that I haven’t found a new novel yet (despite the good recommendations I received—thank you!).  I’ve just been too busy doing everything else I do, and I need to make time for it.  I picked up Good Dog, Carl for Nathan and he loves it!  It features lovely painted illustrations of his favorite animal and has a funny and sweet story line.  It made me smile in the bookstore, and I see him “reading” it for much longer periods of time than he “read” his other books with less involved plots and less detailed illustrations that tell the story.  (It has no words!)  Definitely recommended for pre-readers.

You may think that I’m perusing The Rodale Herb Book, but I’m not.  I’m….using it to flatten some handmade note cards so they come out perfectly straight and crisp.  How do you like that for honesty?  : )

  7. Yes, but you may peruse it someday. It still looks interesting! What is pooling? Is it socks that fall down and pool around your ankles?

  11. You're right. That is beautiful yarn and a great pattern that looks like it's going to complement the handpainted yarn.

We had a rottweiler growing up and loved the Good Dog, Carl series. Merlin has gone on to Dog Heaven but he was a lot like Carl. :-)
