The Great Outdoors – Water Play

~ If you took photos outdoors that you love this week, join in and post a link in the comments!  I'm replacing {this moment} with The Great Outdoors while the weather is warm and we’re spending so much time outside. ~

If it were last summer or the summer before, it would have irritated me to have to water the planters on my deck each and every day during this long (and hot!) dry spell.  But this year, the few minutes of daily watering have been relaxing and almost rejuvenating.  It must be something about nurturing these plants that I love, and it must have to do with water, the most important thing I can do for them.

Nathan’s been enjoying the water this summer, too.  Some days, the time he’s splashing in his baby pool is the most relaxing time of my day.  He’s at an age now where I don’t have to worry so much about him putting his face in the water by accident, and he’s good at entertaining himself, so add water to the mix and he’s good to go for a while.  The other day I even got brave enough to bring some mindless knitting outside with me, and it was the epitome in relaxation (or, as good as relaxation gets with children around).

The other day he discovered the fun of transporting water in his wagon.

And he was brave enough to discover new places he’s never been before.

See his initial hesitation?

C’mon, Mama!

He may have learned a thing or two about physics, such as momentum, inertia and gravity.

But he picked up and moved on like a champ.

And I may have learned a few things about noticing the beauty around me, especially in this sweet, growing, learning, thriving boy.
