A Few Things You May Not Know About Me

Just by reading my blog you probably know that I have a 16-month-old son, live in a rural area, like to knit (okay, love to knit), enjoy partaking in seasonal activities and like to write about it all.  But it occurred to me that there are a few things you may not know about me.  Things that make me me (you know, different than you or anyone else, for that matter) and things that make me unique.  Here’s some free association I call, A Few Things You May Not Know About Me.

A Few Things You May Not Know About Me

  1. I like to laugh.  That’s an understatement—I love to laugh.

  2. I won the “Best Laugh” superlative as voted by my peers who lived on the fifth floor of my freshman dorm.

  3. I also won two goofy awards from my college equestrian team, one for splitting the back of my riding jacket open during a horseshow (thanks, Freshman Fifteen, or should I say, Thirty) and one for my ex-boyfriend launching chicken nuggets at me during a team meeting in the student center and hitting my poor coach instead.  Both instances were embarrassing, yet the awards hung on my bedroom wall until after I moved out of my parents’ house.

  4. My parents live an hour away from me, or should I say, I live an hour away from them.  I sometimes wish I lived closer, but the distance isn’t too far to keep us apart for long.

  5. Intentionally omitted.

  6. I’ve been married for almost four years, but it feels like much longer because we’ve been together for more than 11.

  7. When I was in college and had a challenging internship I enjoyed, I thought I might become a careerwoman and leave the childcare to my husband (then-boyfriend).  I’m so glad that thought was extremely short-lived.  It only lasted until I graduated, got a “real” job that I really disliked and found out how terrible corporate life was.  But that isn’t the real reason I wanted to be home with kids—there’s soooo much more to it—but that experience was a real wakeup call.  Even though I work part-time for myself now, I can’t imagine not being a stay-at-home mom.  Or being mistreated by yet another female boss.

  8. I’m finally figuring out how to relax and let go of the little things that don’t matter so much in the long run.  I guess becoming a parent helps with that.

  9. Although raising a family is my most important and meaningful goal in life, I still have plenty of other goals and more hobbies and interests than I’ll ever have time for.  Some goals include becoming an Olympic equestrian and becoming financially secure for life (I believe it is possible!).

  10. We just took our first plunge into investing and I’m checking on our investment every day after the stock market closes.  You’re not supposed to do that, but I’m doing it anyway.  I do a lot of things I’m not supposed to do.

I hope you know me a little bit better now.  I hope you’ll tell me a few things about yourself on your blog.
