Yarn Along

I’m joining Ginny of small things on her Yarn Along, a full day late but not a dollar short.  As my picture suggests, I’ve been very busy!  And not just knitting.  Between Nathan’s first birthday party, Thanksgiving and my babysitter’s 10-day-long vacation, I missed 6 days of work, and I’m trying to catch up every chance I get.  That means firing up the computer every time Nathan naps and waking up early to try to bang out an article before he wakes up in the morning.  It’s not been easy, and I’m starting to feel burned out over it.  And I still have a ton of Christmas shopping left to do.

Anyhoo, I’m plugging away on the Christmas socks and finished another finger on my husband’s boring gloves.  And the newcomer will be a hat for my awesome babysitter.  I still have to figure out how I’m going to make it more interesting than an off-white k2p2 ribbed hat.  It was a last-minute decision that she needed something hand-knitted, so there you have it.

I’m reading Cat Stories, but I’m not a crazy cat lady (I swear). I love the author, James Herriot (pen name of James Alfred Wight), and it involves one of my favorite characters, veterinarian James Herriot.  And I like cats.  I have three of them, and you can see Hammie in my photo.  I liked the cats a lot more before Nathan was born and before I realized how ^$%#&%@ annoying (and almost obsolete) they are after you have kids.  I’m sure it’s too early to be this punchy.  It’s gotta be 8:00 (p.m.) somewhere.
